The piece is carved from a single block of translucent, amber-colored resin in the warm faux-amber or amber-style tradition so frequently encountered in mid-twentieth-century costume and novelty jewelry. The material displays a beautiful play of color: the exterior surfaces read as a rich, burnished orange-amber while the thinner sections and carved recesses transmit a glowing, sunny honey-yellow when light passes through. This luminous quality is especially evident when the ring is held against a window or examined under strong illumination, giving the carvings a lively, almost three-dimensional presence.

The decorative program is both extensive and thoughtfully composed. On the shoulders and continuing down the outer sides of the wide band, fine incised lines delineate stylized bamboo stalks complete with characteristic nodes and delicate, pointed leaves.
